A young South African, Cecil Bosman, has spent the last year cycling from England to Cape Town to raise funds for HOKISA. On December 7, 2007 he celebrated his homecoming with the children in Masiphumelele. Well done, Cecil.
World Aids Day, and Five Years of HOKISA in Masiphumelele
December 1, 2007 marks not only World Aids Day, but also Five Years of HOKISA in Masiphumelele. In these 5 years we have proven that even in disadvantaged communities like ours you can fight HIV/Aids - and children with HIV/Aids can live almost normal lives!
All HOKISA children who have received ARV medication during these years have not only survived, but enjoy life with their friends at HOKISA, from the neighbourhood or different schools. Half of the (at present nineteen) HOKISA kids have grown into school children - we even had to build a new study to create a special quiet room for the older ones to do their homework. Our youngest child is 2 months, the oldest is 19 (and is earning a living as a brick layer, having completed his training almost a year ago).

Five years of HOKISA in Masiphumelele with the Children’s Home, the Doctor’s Surgery and the Peace House - all this would have not been possible without your reliable support. We wish you, your friends and families a peaceful and healthy 2008!
