From 1 February 2009, two new executive co-directors will assume their duties at HOKISA: Robyn Cohen (39), a trained nurse and former programme manager of YABONGA (South African NGO in support of women and children living with HIV/Aids) and Lungelo Nqojana (29), who has been working with HOKISA as a child care worker since the beginning in 2002 and later as a home manager, have been chosen unanimously by the team and board after an open and public application procedure.

Karin Chubb and Dr Lutz van Dijk, co-founders and first executive co-directors of HOKISA, announced two years ago that they plan to transfer their experience and position to a new generation, as both are convinced that leadership in a social project must continuously develop to ensure sustainability. The past year all childcare workers at HOKISA prepared themselves for transition in leadership via regular transition meetings and training, which will continue into 2009. Karin and Lutz will stay on until the end of the new directors’ probation period and the next HOKISA AGM in June. Both commit to stay close to HOKISA, to all the children and the team as board members into the future.
