Gys has been selected to take part in Celebrity Survivor - Santa Carolina. Eachg celebrity had to choose a charity to support and will earn money for that charity as the show progresses. The winner of the show will win R500 000 for himself and R500 000 for the charity they have chosen!
Gys knows HOKISA through his nephew Cecil Bosman, who spent a year (2007) cycling from England to Cape Town to raise funds for HOKISA.
Gys is best known for his role as Zieg Combrink in the M-Net soapie Binnelanders, from 2005-2006. This was preceeded by an extensive and successful career in stage and screen, including roles in such productions as Triptiek 1, Die Vierde Kabinet, Jozi H, On the Wire, Dangerous Ground, Tarzan and the Lost City, Inside Out and Zoop in Afrika.
Apart from being a legendary South African actor and writer, Gys is an artist as well. His life has come full circle as he now spends his days creating work, sculpting, walking on the beach and eating home-cooked meals.
