HOKISA has been treated to a wonderful outing at the German School in Cape Town.
We arrived and met with Ingrid Rode, our boardmember and a teacher at the school, who welcomed us very warmly and took us to her classroom where we met with other children and teachers from the school and discussed our agenda for the day.
We started off dividing into four teams: Bafana Bafana, Spain, Germany and Cameroon.
All four teams competed in a football quiz which was very interesting and the children learnt a lot. Bafana Bafana were the winners of the quiz - well done!
We then moved to the indoor courts as it was raining outdoors and started a round robin tournament where all of the teams played each other in football matches. Iris was a very good referee and kept the games moving and the teams rotating. We had great fun and even though some players were better than others, everyone took part and the spirit was excellent.
Spain won the competition as they did not loose a single game and their players taught the rest of us some fancy skills. The teams won beautiful ‘Jabulani’ key rings to take home and then the highlight of the day….
Oliver and Karen had brought football shirts for everyone from Germany and the kids looked very proud on the way home in their new colours - THANK YOU!
On the way home to HOKISA everyone was smiling and laughing and asking “when can we go back to the German School again?”
